***Real Change as a result of this debate***

Both Senator John Adler (D) and Mayor Chris Myers (R) stayed true to their compassion about veterans issues in the State of New Jersey.  Both candidates contacted the Rutgers President Richard  L. McCormick in regards to Service members Opportunity College (SOC).  This issue was brought up during the debate, the a question was posed to both candidates as to how they would help make SOC mandatory in every state university in New Jersey.  These acts will not go unnoticed amongst the veteran population. Veterans for Education would like to personally thank both of these candidates for going out of their way to take the proactive step towards making SOC a reality.  Along with tireless dedication from various VFW legislators such as Al Bucchi and with the dedicated passion of Assemblyman Jack Conners who is the Chairman of the NJ Committee of Military and Veterans Affairs in Trenton, SOC will become a required program for all State Universities in NJ.  Below are the letters each candidate wrote to Rutgers University President Richard L. McCormick

Veterans for Education hosted a Congressional Debate between Senator John Adler and Mayor Chris Myers.  These candidates are campaigning for a position in Congress representing the third district of New Jersey. The third district of New Jersey has one of the highest concentrations of veterans out of any district of America. Both of these candidates are running on a strong veterans platform.  With the recent deployment of over 3,600 New Jersey National Guard members and the ongoing wars

in Iraq and Afghanistan the number of veterans returning to our district grows with each passing day.  Veterans for Education brought attention to the issues surrounding these recently returning veterans.  The debate was fair and balanced debate staying true to the issues that are affecting Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
This debate helped the voters of the Third District see where each candidate stood on veterans issues.  It allowed them to observe the candidates in an unscripted debate without the assistance of scripted sound bytes, press releases and media influence. Dr. Anthony Mazzarelli from Big Talker 1210 acted as the co-moderator along with President Bryan Adams.
By hosting this debate Veterans For Education set the example for newly returning Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.  We want more veterans involved in Business, Politics, and Law.  Getting together, pointing out injustices and making social change a reality.
